GAMBATTE!
Gambatte! is a magazine and book imprint of Written World Communications launching in 2010. Written by anime / manga fans, FOR anime / manga fans, we hope to offer a diverse and exciting magazine featuring everything from the usual reviews and articles to a showcase of exciting new talent.
We are actively looking for an original book length manga to begin our book imprint in late 2010 to early 2011. Not wanting fan‐fiction but instead something brand new that no one has seen. Please send proposals with a sample chapter to gambatte.mag@gmail.com.
For the magazine, Gambatte!, we have the following layout:
- Main welcome of each issue written by the editor
- Feature of the issue. (Article, interview, fanfic... that type of thing. What can YOU come up with for this?)
- General Columns including:
- Reviews (manga, anime, music, games)
- Cosplay Interest
- Haiku
- Shopping guide (With links where we can.)
- Japanese Culture Highlights
- Events Listings
- FanArt
- Shorts (Those really short fanfics of less than 1000 words or so)
- Strips (Small 4 panel or less stand alone comics)
- Links (Web‐manga, web‐comics, blogs of interest, things of that nature.)
General guidelines to keep in mind:
- Please keep everything to a PG‐13 rating, keeping in mind that many fans of anime / manga are teens. If you’re sure if your work fits, send it and let us decide!
- All written submissions for articles/reviews have a word count between 250‐500 words.
- Fanfic word count caps at 2500. I would love to be able to offer serials to serious fanfic writers. I would like for those to be submitted with the first fanfic story in full, the rest outlined at the least.
- Haiku submitted in the general 5‐7‐5 syllable count. Must have no more than 17 syllables. Prefer to have the traditional "season" reference word and use of a cut, but not essential.
Please keep in mind that we’re a new publication Payment for the magazine ranges from $5 to $25 depending on the type and length of submission. Book length manga will have a very nominal advance so please keep this in mind (yes, we are a royalty paying publisher!) If you’re passionate about your work and the desire to be in print outweighs immediate monetary compensation, then we are the publisher for you.
Please send full submission to gambatte.mag@gmail.com as an attachment in .doc format with cover letter in the body of an email. If you are applying for a post as columnist, send an email stating your qualifications and ideas. If you just want to exchange links to your anime / manga themed webpage or blog please send the link and a description of your site to that address.
