QUERY

We’re thrilled to discover new talent, so while we always welcome agented work, those without representation are free to query the various imprints. Please read the following carefully:

  1. Examine the guidelines for the imprint you are querying. Be sure to direct your query to the individual listed on those guidelines. Queries sent to the wrong person are not guaranteed to find they way around the company to the person who should have gotten it so be very careful.
  2. Please send one query for each piece you're submitting. This helps in our own tracking. So if you're querying on three magazine pieces then we would expect to see three individual emails from you.
  3. Books and Magazine articles are both submitted through the same process at this time.
  4. In the subject line of your email please put the word QUERY followed by the title of the piece and your name. It should look something like this:
QUERY: My Fantastic Book by Jane Smith
  5. In the body of the query be sure to include:
    • Your name and the title of the piece again.
    • The hook.
    • A short paragraph explaining what the the piece is about.
    • Tell us if this is a completed manuscript or article.
    • Tell us the length.
    • Give us a short bio about yourself.
    • Give us your contact information.
  6. Please give us time to respond. The current turnaround time is about six to eight weeks on all queries. If you do not hear in that time, feel free to send a follow-up email.
  7. Do NOT send your proposal or full manuscript unless invited to do so.

Thank you for considering Written World Communications with your work. We look forward to hearing from you.
