Erin

Erin

Erin wished then for the vampire. It was nearly dark - he would be able to fly at least one of them to safety. But that wasn't enough, and quite frankly, she had no idea where he was or what had happened to him. For all she knew, he had perished in the fire. Did vampires die in fires? She wondered briefly and shook her head. What good did it do to wonder that? Oh, God! I don't know how or why I'm here right now, but these people need your help. We need to fly away from here and only you can do that kind of miracle.

Beside her Col shouted in alarm and she opened her eyes, breaking off her hurried prayer. They were rising from the top of the building inside a beautiful white bubble. In the falling snow she doubted that anyone saw but them. How was this happening though? She looked around at the others, hoping for an explanation. Instead she saw them all looking straight at her. Her hands were bathed in a silvery light that extended to the sides of the orb.

"I don't know how I'm doing this!" she shouted in desperation and wonder.

"I can't do anything to help if you stop," Korliss warned unnecessarily.

Col looked panicked. "That doesn't help."

God, please help us stay up! The orb was traveling at a high rate of speed over the city. "Where do we go now?"

Col and Brin exchanged glances. "Somewhere safe," Col murmured.

"But nearby."

"Guys?" Erin was thinking that if they didn't tell her soon the bubble would burst.

"Home." Korliss said suddenly. "I can help there at least. My home."

There was a bright flash of light and the bubble disappeared, taking everyone with them.
